Panic Attack Pictures

It is one thing to give 100 percent effort so you can enjoy a sense of pride in your achievements, but if you find yourself with a gripping fear of failure, or that only absolute perfection, and nothing less, will only do EVERY time, you may already be on a destructive path against the mental battle known as Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).
People who suffer from OCD cannot dismiss the repetitive thoughts which can see them performing the same task over and over and over again. This serious medical condition can destroy people’s lives and should only be diagnosed and treated by a professional.
For friends and/or family members of a person suffering OCD, this can be the most challenging part of the disorder. Confronting a person who suffers the disorder can be like talking to a brick wall and unfortunately there is little that can be done to treat a person who denies they are not in its suffocating grip. This can be a trying time for you, especially when you witness the suffering day after day. However, if the barriers can be broken and your loved one accepts they have a problem, the battle is half won. Ensure you participate in the therapy sessions so you can understand the treatment and offer encouragement and praise when there is a noticeable improvement. At the same time, do not neglect yourself. Join a support group and talk with others in similar situations. Share your worries and listen to how they’ve learnt to cope.
Common Obsessions and their Compulsions
Germs and cleanliness
Repeated hand-washing and/or scrubbing. Sometimes so extreme the skin is raw or bleeding.
Worries about disease
Repeated self checking (e.g. blood pressure).
Security and safety
Repeatedly checking that doors and windows are locked.
Repeatedly checking that appliances (e.g. iron, oven) are turned off.
Running out of things
Buying more than necessary and ritual shopping.
Preoccupation with exactness and/or perfect order
Counting or sorting objects.
Repeated rearranging and straitening of objects (e.g. wall pictures)
Religious anxieties
Repeating “good” thoughts in order to counteract “bad” thoughts.
Overly time-consuming mental rituals and prayers.
Treatment
Cognitive behavioural therapy is by far the most common treatment. Psychologists will apply a treatment which often involves forcing the patient to confront their fears over and over, while at the same time, asking that they do not respond in their usual panicked manner. Facing your fears and learning to control your thoughts in a calm and rational manner can be extremely distressing at first, but it is a successful method in curing the disorder.
Although there is no research on the benefit of homeopathic treatment, some practitioners have reported they have been able to help their patients. Consider this as a back-up treatment and visit only a reputable homeopath. Discuss the prescribed medicines and their benefits to establish if they are suitable for you.
